Buying your competitor's name on Google Adwords is the sincerest form of flattery. Thank you, Codeship!

Our team attended Dockercon at Westin SF earlier this week.... it was a super fun, informative conference and we had a great time. More on that in a blog post coming up soon.

After standing at our sponsor table for 2 days, we were super tired and decided to grab a drink at the bar downstairs. I was playing around with my phone... reading random articles... when I decided to google our company name. In that one moment, my tiredness was replaced by cheer as I saw this.

As they say, buying your competitors' name on Google Adwords is the sincerest form of flattery. Kudos to the Shippable team!

Build status is now integrated with GitHub pull requests!

A good continuous integration and deployment solution integrates seamlessly with customer workflows and acts like an invisible helper (for the most part) to ensure that the codebase is always deployable. Shippable strives to do just that. Users are notified about build status in their Inbox and they can change config settings by changing a few lines in the shippable.yml file in their repository. All without coming to the Shippable UI.

Today, we have enabled a significant scenario which will help further this philosophy - support for the GitHub commit status API.

Seattle Docker meetup - hosted by Shippable

After hosting our first Docker meetup in Bangalore, we were excited to host a Docker meetup at our new digs in downtown Seattle this week.  Thanks to the  Madrona Venture Group for letting us use their beautiful event space!

The evening kicked off with Hot Mama's pizza, beer, and some casual conversation, aka networking. By 6:45pm, we all settled down to listen to the evening's main talk - a presentation by our CEO Avi Cavale. Avi started off with introducing himself and our company. He then told everyone his favorite story - our journey from  VMs to LXCs and finally discovering Docker was the right fit for containerizing our hosted continuous integration and deployment service. (More on that was captured in our blog.)

Announcing Shippable 1.0 - built on and for Docker!

We are very happy to announce that Shippable 1.0 is now live! This a major step forward for us and we are super excited to bring it to you.

Key upgrades in this release include  -

Faster build speeds

Shippable is now more than 2X faster than our competitors -

  • Our build minions (docker containers) spin up in a few seconds and come pre-installed with most languages and services to save installation time

  • Minions persist your codebase and other custom packages between builds, so they will not be installed every time

  • Node.js-based platform and SSD-based infrastructure

Bangalore Docker Meetup = Success!

First off, a big thank you to all of those who attended the first Docker Meetup in Bangalore this past Sunday! It is amazing to witness the growth that Docker has experienced in the past few months. We at Shippable, are thrilled to be a part of the growth, and even more excited to integrate with Docker and help streamline the development process.

Grandiose aspirations aside, the event was a total success, with over 40+ Docker fans in attendance. Attendees came equipped with questions about Docker and the Shippable team, along with the dizzying amount of open source knowledge in the room, helped people solve their issues. Questions about basic Docker frameworks and migration across clouds using Docker were answered. Some folks even gave lightening talks on a Docker-related topic of their choosing.
